  • For the final weekends of its production of THE TEMPEST, Avant Bard's "Welcome Tempest-Tossed Campaign" commits to donating 1/2 of all full-price ticket proceeds to RAICES Texas ( to provide legal and educational services to refugees and immigrants at the southern border, including removal defense, services for DACA candidates, and services for unaccompanied children. General admission: $30 Fridays; $35 Saturday evenings and Sundays.

  • Keegan Theatre’s Boiler Room Series continues on Sun, July 8 at 3pm or 7:30pm for a special Boiler Maker event: Plays at the Boiling Point – New Voices Sampler Festival. If you missed any of their new works staged readings this season, the new voices festival is your chance to get a taste of all the new play development work that Keegan’s Boiler Room Series has been up to in its inaugural year. Selected scenes will be fully staged and presented as part of the festival, and we’ll feature a post-show discussion with all 5 playwrights. Tickets $20

Janet McKinney the Gershwin Trust Archivist at the Library of Congress Music Division speaks about the genesis of On The Town, the genius of Leonard Bernstein and Jerome Robbins' collaboration, present performances of cut songs along with scans of discarded lyric drafts and other original documents from the LOC collection.

  • Spooky Action Theater holds their next New Works in Action Workshop Production of "The Demon Hunter" by Nat Cassidy on June 23 (8pm) & 24 (3pm). FREE-to-attend, make reservations to ensure seats. A troubled boy grows dangerously obsessed with creatures of darkness. A mysterious street magician perfects a devastating new trick. And a single mother near the breaking point meets with a new therapist in order to better understand the terrifying thoughts that have begun to possess her.

  • LiveArtDC presents their 5TH ANNUAL 24 Hour Playmaking Fundraiser Event, LiveArt in a Day June 16 7-10pm. On Friday, the 5 playwrights will each be randomly assigned a director, 5 actors, a prop, and a DC Metro themed element. Then they have until Saturday morning to turn around a script, then the shows hit the stage at Source Theatre. GENERAL ADMISSION – $25 plus other ways to support and get some extras
