Helen Hayes Award recipient Rick Foucheux reprises his performance in O'Neill's HUGHIE in an OCTOBER 30 benefit performance to support Quotidian Theatre Company. Foucheux is joined by QTC favorites David Dubov and Steve LaRocque in a performance for which he received a Helen Hayes Award nomination in 2001 with the Washington Stage Guild. Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts & CulturalDC invite the DMV performing arts community "Contracts, Negotiations and Collaborative Agreements for Performing Artists," a meet-up, panel discussion, and networking event on Wed, August 31 (7–9pm) at CulturalDC’s Meade Theatre Lab @ Flashpoint (916 G Street NW). On Friday, August 26, Toby’s Dinner Theatre will host the second of a series, The MAIN Thing: Cabaret, in support of EC Partnership which is organized to help rebuild the recently flooded Ellicott City. The post-show cabaret begins at 11pm with a $10 cash cover at the door. Drink coupons are also sold. All proceeds go to EC Partnership.
The series kicked off August 19 with the MAIN Thing Cabarets and Toby's donation buckets yielding over $6000 for EC Partnership. August 26 will include Felicia Curry, Heather Beck, Larry Munsey, Kelli Blackwell, Rob McQuay, Carole Graham Lehan, Jeff Shankle, & Chris Youstra, among others, plus a teaser from Toby’s upcoming Sister Act.

Arena Stage announced an open call for submissions for its 2017 Playwrights’ Arena, a year-long program which invites a small group of up to five local theater makers to convene monthly with Arena artistic staff to investigate their artistic process to develop their dramaturgical practice while creating new work. In its third year, Arena Stage is experimenting with the definition of playmaking by inviting actors, directors or designers—who also write their own work—to apply for this program. Olney Theatre Center caps off its Summer Celebration Sat, August 20 with a special concert - THE SOUNDS OF SUMMER. DC theatre superstars Tracy Lynn Olivera, Bobby Smith and Rachel Zampelli come together to sing some cool summer favorites from the Beach Boys, the Drifters and other classic American songs. The Summer Celebration is a day full of events including demonstrations, backstage tours, tap and vocal classes, performances and more, from 10am to 11:30pm.

What a deal! Ford's Theatre announced it is partnering with TodayTix on a new Free First Preview initiative that will give away tickets to the first preview performance for all mainstage productions. The TodayTix mobile lottery will launch one week before the first preview of each show in the 2016-2017 season including the Broadway-bound production of Come From Away (September 2 at 7:30pm).

Actor Charles Dance will accept the Shakespeare Theatre Company's prestigious William Shakespeare Award for Classical Theatre (Will Award) at the Harman Center for the Arts Annual Gala on Sun, September 25, 2016. Dance, who appeared as Lord Tywin Lannister in the hit HBO series Game of Thrones, has amassed an impressive 35-year career in film and stage.

Unexpected Stage Company's Friday, July 29 performance (7:30p) of Deb Margolin's 8 STOPS will benefit Red Wiggler Community Farm, with half of all ticket sales for that evening going to support this local non-profit, a 12-acre organic farm where people with and without developmental disabilities come together to work, learn, and grow healthy food.
